Governor inaugurates CAU hostel, staff quarters, JNIMS unit

Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla inaugurated several projects at the College of Agriculture and the College of Food Technology, and Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences on Saturday, a Raj Bhavan statement said.
The governor inaugurated a newly constructed girls' hostel and a new Type-IV staff quarter at the College of Agriculture (COA), Iroisemba.
Later, the governor visited the College of Food Technology, Lamphelpat, and inspected the Biofloc Unit and food processing pilot plant located on the campus.
As part of the event, he also inaugurated a Tulsi-flavoured water manufacturing unit.
He also distributed food processing equipment to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and encouraged them to utilise the various training programmes provided by Central Agricultural University (CAU), Imphal, to develop skills in food processing and entrepreneurship, enabling them to become self-reliant, the statement added.
The Governor also inaugurated a newly established Dialysis Unit at Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), Imphal.
The unit has been established by the State Health Society, Manipur, under the National Health Mission as part of the Pradhan Mantri National Dialysis Program (PMNDP), with sponsorship from the corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme of Indian Oil Corporation Limited.
The new facility is equipped with 10 haemodialysis machines and aims to provide accessible and affordable dialysis services to the people.
Later, the Governor visited various wards inside JNIMS, where he interacted with hospital officials and inquired about the functioning of the institute.
He also chaired a meeting with the heads of departments (HoDs) of JNIMS to review areas requiring improvement.
During the meeting, the HoDs apprised the Governor of various issues they are facing, with JNIMS director Professor L Usharani submitting a memorandum to the Governor in this regard.
The Governor acknowledged their concerns and stated that he would review the matters.
Health & family welfare commissioner- cum - secretary Sumant Singh and health services director Dr Chambo Gonmei were also present at the inauguration ceremony.
