Khasi film 'Ha Lyngkha Bneng' selected for MIFF

'Ha Lyngkha Bneng' (The Elysian Field), a Khasi-language film directed by Pradip Kurbah, has secured the slot in the main competition of the 47th Moscow International Film Festival (MIFF) 2025 .
Recognised as one of the oldest and most prestigious film festivals since its inception in 1935, MIFF will be held in Moscow from April 17 to 24, showcasing outstanding cinema from around the world.
The film's journey began in 2020 when it was selected for the Asian Project Market in Busan and the Co-Production Market at Film Bazaar, organised by India's National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) .
Filmed over two years across all four seasons in Sohra, Meghalaya, 'Ha Lyngkha Bneng' captures the region's breath-taking landscapes and rich cultural essence.
The narrative explores themes of community, loneliness, and resilience, set in a secluded village gradually abandoned due to urban migration.
It portrays friendship as a means of survival, weaving a tale of human connection and shared experiences of grief, longing, and companionship.
