Russian Films to be screened

Russian Films based on Second World War will be screened in Manipur from May 16 to May 29 .
This was disclosed by the state CPI secretary M Nara.
The announcement was made at press meet held on Monday at Manipur press club in connection with 'Observance of 70th Anniversary of Victory Over Fascism and Inauguration of a five-day Russian Film Festival' to be held on May 16 at MFDC auditorium at Palace Compound Imphal at 3 pm.
The programme will be organized by All India Peace and Solidarity Organization including Indian Peoples Theatre Association, Progressive Writers' Association and Indian Society for cultural Cooperation and Friendship.
Accordingly, a team of officials of Russian Centre for Science and Culture, Kolkata and representatives of four Russian Universities led by Bashkirova, Consul General of Russian Federation in Kolkata is expected to reach Imphal on May 15.During the programme well known Russian Universities will display their exhibits and giving guidelines interested students for admission in different courses.
Along with the screening of the rare anti-war films, a painting competition will be held for children between 10 to 15 years on the theme 'War and Peace' at Slopeland Public School at Khongjom on May 16 .
