IGNTU-RCM Cultural Festival 2015 held

The first ever cultural festival of Indira Gandhi National Tribal University, Regional Campus Manipur (IGNTU-RCM) was held with much fanfare under the theme "Culture in confluence and future in confluence" on Monday at the Amity Hall of Adimjati Complex Chingmeirong of Imphal West.
During the festival, the students showcased rich cultural dances and folk songs of different tribal communities in the state.
Noted Folk Musician Guru Reuben Mashangva also gave a scintillating performance with his own rendition of modern folk numbers.
He was the guest performer of the day.
The programme which began around morning 10 am was attended by State Nodal Officer, Directorate of Higher Education and University Th Oliver Monsang and Director (in-charge)/Deputy Register of IGNTU-RCM SL Varte as Chief Guest and Guest of Honour respectively .

Speaking as President of the function, SL Varte said the cultural festival is represents most cultures of tribes through traditional song and dance.
She stated that the event is not only about providing a platform to showcase the different cultures of tribes but will act an agent to preserve the same.
"It is about the celebration of the bountifulness of nature, it's about of sharing of culture, idea of brotherhood and spreading of goodwill and peace", the director-in charge who is also Deputy Register of the University stated.
Speaking as Chief guest, the state nodal officer, Th Oliver Monsang stated Manipur is a land of rich culture and its culture has now been much liked and acknowledge by other people.
He appeal all the student to focus on research oriented studies rather than just mere learning.
He said that all the dreams of university can only be materialised with the support of different stakeholders.
