Hajj pilgrims

Imphal, April 26 2025:
A total of 459 people from Manipur will embark on the sacred Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca, Saudi Arabia this year.
The 459 pilgrims include 257 males and 207 females.
At the premises of the State Directorate of Family Welfare, Lamphelpat today, the pilgrims were administered QMMV (quadrivalent meningococcal meningitis vaccine), SIV (seasonal influenza vaccination) and oral polio drops.
The vaccination programme was organised by the Manipur State Hajj Committee and the Directorate of Family Welfare Services.
Family Welfare Director Dr N Hemantakumar, Hajj officer (adm) Syed Aja and Hajj executive officer Md Yaseb Ahmed attended the vaccination programme.
Vaccination programmes for Hajj pilgrims are organised every year.
The pilgrims are vaccinated for protection against infectious diseases such as meningococcal meningitis, polio, and seasonal influenza.
Hajj is a spiritual journey to Mecca undertaken by millions of Muslims every year.
The pilgrimage follows in the footsteps of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) and Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
Hajj takes place during Dhul Hijjah, the 12th and final month of the Islamic calendar.
Hajj 2025 is expected to begin on June 4 and end on June 9.The exact dates depend on the sighting of the moon, which determines the start of the Islamic lunar month.
