Imphal, November 20 2024:
Voicing serious concern over the escalating violence in the state, the Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has blamed chief minister N Biren Singh for the prevailing situation wherein at least 20 people have died since November 7.In a statement, CPI (M) said that the violence, marked by a series of ethnic killings and counter killings, has significantly intensified, with the discovery of six bodies, including those of women and children, further exacerbating the crisis.
Among the victims was an eigjit-month-old baby, who had been abducted earlier in a horrifying incident.
The party held CM N Biren responsible for the deteriorating situation, claiming that he had failed to address the growing unrest.
It then lambasted the central government and the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for continuing to support CM Biren rather than taking action to remove him from office.
"A situation has now arisen where the writ of the state government and the administration does not run," CPI (M) said, calling for immediate intervention by the central government.
It urged the central government to take decisive action to end the violence and ensure the protection of all ethnic communities in the state.
The CPI (M) further called for urgent steps towards a political resolution that would bring lasting peace to Manipur, stressing the need for safeguarding the rights of all communities affected by the ongoing crisis.
