Assam Rifles National Integration Tour team explores historical and cultural heritage in Kohima

Imphal, February 09 2026:
The National Integration Tour (NIT) flagged off from Pallel Garrison, Kakching District, on February 7, 2026, under the Assam Rifles Civic Action Programme, reached Kohima on February 8 for an educational and cultural exposure visit.
A total of 29 individuals, including 23 participants from civil society organisations of Modi, Pallel and neighbouring areas, accompanied by six personnel from Assam Rifles, are undertaking the 15-day journey across India.
As per a release issued by the IGAR (South), the programme in Kohima commenced with a solemn visit to the War Cemetery, where the team paid homage to soldiers who laid down their lives during the Second World War.
The guided interaction highlighted the historic Battle of Kohima and its enduring values of courage, sacrifice and patriotism, leaving a deep impression on the participants.
The tour continued with a visit to the Cathedral Church, noted for its architectural grandeur and spiritual significance, where participants gained insights into local traditions and practices, fostering respect for cultural diversity.
The group also engaged with the local community at Kohima's markets, gaining exposure to traditional crafts, indigenous products and commerce.
Following the Kohima leg, the team transited to Guwahati via Dimapur by train, where they witnessed the inauguration of newly developed passenger facilities at Guwahati Railway Station.
The upgraded infrastructure, modem amenities and enhanced safety measures offered participants a first-hand view of national development initiatives.
The tour now proceeds towards Ahmedabad for its next leg, continuing to connect youth from Manipur's border areas with India's diverse cultural and national ethos, reinforcing unity and social harmony.
