30,486 houses under PMAY-G constructed in state

Construction 30,486 houses out of the total 1,01,558 houses sanctioned under Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) in respect of Manipur has been completed as of February 1, 2024, informed Union minister of state for rural development Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday.
Replying to a query raised in connection with PMAY-G, minister Jyoti informed the Rajya Sabha that the Ministry of Rural Development has been implementing PMAY-G with effect from April 1, 2016 in order to achieve the target of 'Housing for All' in rural areas across the country.
Eligible rural households are provided assistance to construct pucca houses with basic amenities under the scheme, which targets to construct 2.95 crore pucca houses by March, 2024.Out of the overall mandated target of 2.95 crore houses allocated to states/UTs under PMAY-G, more than 2.94 crore houses have already been sanctioned to the eligible beneficiaries by the states/ UTs with construction of 2.55 crore houses already completed as on February 1, 2024, the minister said.
Jyoti also informed the Rajya Sabha that out of the allocated target of 1,01,558 houses for Manipur, a total of 1,01,550 houses have been sanctioned but construction of only 30,486 houses have been completed as of February 1, 2024.Notably, government provides Rs 1.20 lakh to beneficiaries of PMAY-G scheme in the valley and Rs 1.30 lakh to beneficiaries of the hills in the state.
In addition to assistance in construction of pucca houses to all the eligible beneficiaries of PMAY-G scheme, beneficiaries are given Rs 12,000 under Swachh Bharat Mission-Gramin for construction of toilet.
