Imphal, April 02 2025: A two-day State level festival of folk dance of Manipur was kicked off today at Khurai Kongpal Ningthoubung Leikai community hall.

The folk dance festival was organised by the Cultural Guild Imphal, Thangmeiband Imphal West under Cultural Function and Production Grant Scheme of the Ministry of Culture.

The inaugural function was graced by Roshan Meetei, Lecturer & Guru, Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy Imphal as the chief guest and Chanamthabam Basanta Roy, advisor, Cultural Guild Imphal as the functional president.

Speaking as the chief guest, Roshan Meetei expressed deep admiration upon witnessing the many folk dances of Manipur as demonstrated by the artistes such as Maibi Jagoi and Thougal Jagoi.

He called for concerted efforts to promote and preserve the rich culture of Manipur.
