Imphal, February 01 2024:
Alliance for Socialist Unity, Kangleipak (ASUK) has condoled the untimely demise of 'captain' Samjetsabam Shamungou (49) of the Meeyamgee Yawol Lanmee, the armed wing of the proscribed Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) .
Popularly known as Dhana, captain Shamungou was the son of late S Babuhal and Leikham Leima of Thinungei Mamang Leikai.
In a statement, ASUK said that captain Dhana was a well-mannered, kind-hearted, righteous and patriotic revolutionary army, apart from being a man of integrity.
He always used to guide the youth of the society towards the right path, it stated.
The statement also recalled a remark made by the late leader during the 43rd Raising Day of KCP last year, in which he said: "Young boys and girls are harming themselves by abusing drugs in the present society and they are the victims of the drug traffickers.
Today, many drug traffickers have become rich and influential people, many have joined the governance by contesting elections, which has brought chaos in the administration.
The society is in a very deep abyss and let's work together against drugs".
It then stated that ASUK will continue the work Captain Dhana started with his words as the guiding beacon.
The statement further said that Captain Dhana was a true revolutionary, who fought against enemies valiantly and his untimely demise will remain irreparable loss not only for KYKL but also for ASUK and the whole Manipur.
ASUK, the alliance of KCP and KYKL, also offered revolutionary salute to the late leader and shared the pain and grief of the bereaved family.
