CM, others greet on May Day

Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Tuesday extended his greetings the workers of the state on the occasion of Labour Day, popularly known as May Day.
In his message, CM Biren stated that Labour Day is observed to pay respect to all workers and labourers and it was on this day that the working class came together and stood up for their rights.
They raised their voices for paid leaves, good wages and proper breaks, he mentioned, adding that the Day also symbolises the victory of the working class for their struggle for 8-hour working day.
"On this Labour Day, I urge the public to recognise and appreciate all workers for their hard work and contributions to the development of our society.
Let us honour and celebrate their hard work and dedication in every field," he stressed.
Rural Development minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh in his message, paid homage to the pioneers who fought for right and justice of the working class across the world.
He also invited the people to take the pledge to recognise and cherish the contribution of labourers in the society upon which the human civilisation depends.
Political parties including Communist Party of India, Manipur State Council (CPI-MSC) and Shiv Sena Manipur along with CSOs namely Kangleipak Progressive Farmers' Association (KaPFA) and Integrated Farmers' Welfare Organisation (IFWO) also extended their wishes on the occasion of labour Day, highlighting the important role played by the labourers and farmers in the society.
