Imphal, April 21 2025:
In a powerful demonstration of commitment to the physical and emotional wellbeing of its troops and families, Assam Rifles, under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (South), successfully conducted a series of Pranayam and Yogasana sessions from April 10-21, 2025 across multiple garrisons in Manipur.
According to IGAR (S), the sessions were led by the inspiring Padmini Jog, an 80-year-old certified yoga instructor from Nagpur, Maharashtra, whose energy and wisdom left a lasting impact on all participants.
Over 1,845 troops, families and students across Manipur participated in this series of rejuvenating yoga sessions from April 10 to 2.Starting from Pallel, Modi, and Moreh Garrisons, the initiative moved to Kakching, Keithelmanbi, and finally to Ukhrul and Sangshak, culminating at Mantripukhri Garrison.
The series concluded at Mantripukhari on April 21, where 375 troops and family members took part in a revitalising yoga session focused on physical wellbeing and inner balance.
The event reinforced the value of yoga as a daily discipline for armed forces personnel, whose demanding routines often leave little space for mental decompression.
Earlier on 18 April, two enriching sessions were conducted at Ukhrul for personnel and families at Ukhrul and Sangshak Garrisons.
The morning session at Ukhrul centred on stress reduction and mental clarity, while the evening session at Sangshak emphasised emotional regulation and the role of pranayam in academic and family life.
A total of 270 troops, 69 family members, and 50 children participated enthusiastically.
On 16 April, Keithalmanbi Garrison hosted three energising sessions, first for troops, then for students and teachers of Assam Rifles Public School, and lastly for families.
From 13 to 15 April, a dedicated three-day Yoga Shivir was organised at Kakching Garrison.
Attended by 325 personnel, families, and students of ARPS Kakching, the sessions highlighted yoga's role in boosting immunity, cultivating mindfulness and encouraging balanced living.
The camp ended with an interactive Q&A and a heartfelt felicitation of Mrs.Jog.
Prior to this, from 10 to 12 April, yoga sessions were held across Pallel (Kakching District), Modi (Chandel District), and Moreh (Tengnoupal District) Garrisons, where over 340 personnel .
and dependents were introduced to prahayam as a vital routine to enhance mental resilience in operational settings, said the IGAR (South) .
