MU NSS volunteers sanitise JNIMS

Imphal, June 15 2025:
A major cleanliness drive was carried out at the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) campus in Imphal on Sunday following severe flooding that recently impacted the area.
Organised under the su pervision of Prof N Lokendra Singh, vice-chancellor of Manipur University, and others, the drive was aimed at restoring hygiene and cleanliness on the premises, while also fostering civic responsibility among the youth.
The effort was spearheaded by the NSS Cell of Manipur University in collaboration with the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports.
Over 100 volunteers from various NSS units, accompanied by programme officers and youth officers, took part in the large-scale cleanliness drive.
Activities focused on waste management, campus beautification, and the promotion of moral discipline and community engagement among young participants.
Dr L Santosh Singh, programme coordinator of the NSS Cell, commended the dedication and coordinated efforts of all volunteers, officers, and JNIMS staff, including the director, deputy director, head of the Dental College, and the facility manager.
He highlighted that the drive was not only a response to the aftermath of a natural disaster but also a demonstration of youth-led volunteerism and social responsibility.
As a direct outcome of the successful clean-up operation, the Outpatient Department (OPD) at JNIMS is scheduled to reopen from Monday, ensuring the timely resumption of essential medical services.
