CJ leads in extending aid to IDPs

Imphal, May 13 2025:
Chief Justice of the High Court of Manipur, D Krishnakumar led a "Promotional Legal Aid & Awareness Campaign cum Free Medical Camp" at Konthoujam Makha Khabam High School Relief Camp, Imphal West district today.
76 of the IDPs are from Churachandpur.
The programme was organised by the office of the Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA) in association with Imphal West District Legal Services Authority and the State Directorate of Health Services.
During the programme, relief materials such as jumbo boxes, mosquito nets (folding double), torch light/lamps, diapers, buckets, mugs, milk for infants, sanitary pads, soaps, detergent, mosquito repellent coils, sports items including footballs, volleyballs, skipping ropes, toys and clothing for children were distributed to the internally displaced persons in the camp.
Chief Justice D Krishnakumar also distributed health cards to seven beneficiaries.
Health of the internally displaced persons were screened and medicines were provided during the camp.
High Court Judge, Justice A Bimol Singh, Justice A Guneshwar Sharma and other officials including Chief Medical officer of Imphal West took part in the camp.
The promotional legal aid awareness and free medical camp is continuation of a similar programme initiated by Supreme Court Judge and Executive Chairman of National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), Justice BR Gavai during his visit to Manipur on March 22, said Justice A Bimol.
Justice Bimol, who is also the Executive Chairman of Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA), expressed gratitude to Justice BR Gavai and the NALSA for providing funds for the camp.
Sponsored by the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), the promotional legal aid awareness and medical camp will continue in all the remaining relief camps in the State, Justice Bimol said.
The camp will visit relief camps in Imphal East district and later Bishnupur district in the coming days, he added.
Notably, during Justice BR Gavai's visit on March 22, medical camps were held at relief camps.
As many as 400 doctors and 800 support staff were engaged in the medical camps.
