State sees record single day spike of 600 new cases, two deaths

The state on Friday sufered a big jolt in the fght against Covid-19 as government bulletins reported 600 new cases, which is the highest ever single day spike since the beginning of the pandemic, along with two new fatalities.
As the second wave of the pandemic tighten its grip, several areas in the twin capital districts of West and East have emerged as new hotspots of infections, with most cases confned in IMC and Greater Imphal areas.
The last seven days reported 4886 cases and 6145 cases since the beginning of the current year.
In terms of fatalities, 44 deaths were reported in the last seven days and 94 since January this year.
According to ofcial reports, the 600 new cases include 576 civilians (307 male & 269 female) and 24 personnel of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) .
Their samples were tested at JNIMS (84), RIMS (66), Imphal East (1), Imphal West (35), Maipakpi (2), RD Wing (8), SWISS Clinic (1), CMC (4), Hillside (1), Peace Hospital (1), Raj Medicity (88), Shija Hospitals (28), Jivan Hospital (6), Babina Diagnostics (77), Escent Diagnostics (26), Thoubal (30), Bishnupur (17), Kakching (11), Ukhrul (18), Churachandpur (45), Chandel (6), Kangpokpi (2), Kamjong (2), Senapati (15), Tengnoupal (1), Noney (4), Pherzawi (1) and Tamenglong (20).The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (166), Imphal West (208), Thoubal (40), Bishnupur (33), Kakching (18), Ukhrul (22), Churachandpur (34), Chandel (7), Tamenglong (19), Senapati (17), Kangpokpi (3), Kamjong (2), Tengnoupal (1) and Noney (6) .
All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
The two fatalities reported on Friday include a 47-year-old male from Kakching and a 65-year-old female from Imphal East district, who died at JNIMS (2) hospital.
The cumulative number of fatalities has reached 449.In the last 24 hours, 83 people were discharged from home isolation (53), JNIMS (1), RD Wing (13), CCCBB (2), Churachandpur DH (1) and SHRI (13) .
The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 34,333 (general population - 30,685 and CAPF personnel - 3,648).Number of recovered cases is 30,378 (general population - 26,911 and CAPF personnel - 3,467) and number of active cases is 3506 (general population - 3330 and CAPF personnel - 176) .
The recovery rate is 88.48 per cent.
In the last 24 hours, 762 D type Oxygen Cylinders and 192 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to diferent health institutions and health facilities in the state.
So far, 2,51,099 individuals have been vaccinated against Covid-19, informed the CCR report.
Meanwhile, our Kakching correspondent reported that 32 new cases were detected during RAT conducted in the district on Friday and many of them are yet to be refected in the ofcial report issued by IDSP and CCR.
Out of the 32 new cases, 24 were found positive during test conducted at government testing centre.
Thy are from Langmeidong (5), Kakching Khunyai Leikai (5), Lamjao Makha Leikai (1), Kakching Moirangthem Leikai (1), Wabagai Mayai Leikai (3), Irengband Sabal Makha Leikai (3), and Wabagai Kadajit (6) .
The remaining eight were detected at Jivan Hospital and they are from Lamjao (1), Elangkhangpokpi (1), Kakching Sumak Leikai (2), Langmeidong (1), and Wabagai Kadajit (3) .
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 11,064 confrmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 16,331 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 203,441 tests per million population against the national average of 214,596 TPM.
Case fatality rate reduced to 1.31 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, 3421 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 17.54 per cent while the cumulative positivity rate further rose to 5.44 per cent.
