Chin-Kuki terrorists cannot be buried at Torbung: FOCS

Imphal, August 02 2023: Demanding the state government to take up stringent measures and prevent attempt by the Kukis to hold mass burial of bodies of slain Chin-Kuki terrorists at the District Sericulture Office complex, Torbung Bangla, Federation of Civil Society Organisation (FOCS) has categorically stated that no Chin-Kuki terrorists who are waging war in the state and trying to destroy Manipur can be buried in Torbung Bangla.

Addressing media persons at its Wangkhei Ningthem Pukhri Mapal office here on Wednesday, FOCS president Th Manihar condemned inaction by Churachandpur police station OC and para-military forces when around 600/700 Kuki women showed up at the district horticulture office and started cleaning up the complex for conducting mass burial of the Chin-Kuki militants.

Alleging that the Kuki women carried out clean-up of the complex under the security cover provided of Churachandpur PS OC and security forces as per ah order of Churachandpur SP, Th Manihar said that the state government needs to stop such activities.

The state government, Churachandpur DC and SP shall be held responsible if any untoward incident happens in the attempt of the Kukis to conduct mass burial of the bodies of Chin-Kuki terrorists at Torbung Bangla.

He also appealed to the people of the state to united and prevent such mass burial activity on the soil of Manipur.

The FOCS president also lamented lack of government support to the state's forces numbering around 80 personnel of MR and IRB who are still stuck at Tengnoupal en route to Moreh as reinforcement after the gun battle broke between Chin-Kuki militants and security forces.

The silent attitude of the state government at such a juncture indicates that there is no law in the hills.

Manihar also expressed suspicion over government of India backing Kukis' attempt to permanently unsettle Meiteis from Kuki populated districts for the latter to realize the dream of Chin-Kukis for separate administration and transform Moreh, which is an important road link to southeast Asia, to a profitable business hub of foreign business tycoons.

He also said that the state government should empower the state forces and enable them to flush out Chin-Kukis who are preventing their entry into Moreh town and maintain law and order in the border town.

Manihar further appealed to all concerned not to carry out fund drives on individual or organizational capacities for helping in the 'war' but to encourage all concern to extend help on their own volition.

Meanwhile, Manipur Women's Federation (MWF) has urged the government to prevent the burial of the bodies of Chin-Kuki terrorists at Torbung Bangla.
