Imphal, July 24 2025:
The armed Manipur Naga People's Front (MNPF) has accused the Kuki community of fabricating historical narratives and attempting to divide the unified identity of Manipur, while asserting that such actions
are uncivilised and pose dangers for future generations.
In a press release, MNPF highlighted its commitment to restoring peace and stability in Manipur since the unrest began on May 3, 2023 .
While MNPF and various communities in Manipur are sincerely undertaking efforts to bring peace, the Kuki community is exploiting the situation by fabricating many false historical accounts, presuming others dread them, it said.
Referring to a statement issued by an organisation 'Young Kuki' on July 15, 2025, that "Nagas were migrated to the Kuki Hills after separating from their Meetei brothers" MNPF termed it "very unfortunate for the Kuki community", stating that the same only reflects how so-called Kuki intellectuals are misleading their youngsters by teaching them false history.
"Such attempts to mislead the Kuki youth will be dangerous for future generations," the release cautioned.
MNPF contended that the Kuki community cannot fully understand the true history of Manipur and suggested that if they wish to learn about it, they should consult the indigenous people, Meetei and Naga.
The Front clarified that it had not responded to the fabricated history of Manipur published on social media and news outlets by Kukis, not out of fear, but because it considers such arguments as unproductive and unwise.
On demographic patterns, MNPF questioned whether any Kuki areas in district and block headquarters or villages even have more than 100
households, claiming that most Kuki villages comprise 7 to 30 households.
In contrast, the Naga community has villages with more than 1,000 households, even outside district and block headquarters.
The release
asserted that 95 per cent of Naga villages have more than 100 households while only 5 per cent have less.
MNPF warned that if Kukis, unaware of such realities, continue to arbitrarily fabricate Manipur's history, "it would be wise to be cautious so that a disturbance like the one that happened in 1993 does not reoccur" .
Maintaining that MNPF was founded for peaceful coexistence of all communities in Manipur, the Front said that it would not remain silent if the Kuki community, standing behind the Government of India, attempts to disrupt the unity and identity of Manipur.
MNPF accused Kukis of speaking and acting against the indigenous people by following the path of India, which, it alleged, instigates division among Manipur's communities through provocative statements.
MNPF stressed the need for exploring ways to resolve the current crisis, asserting that such efforts are crucial for the welfare of everyone.
