Kuki student leader threatens Meiteis; cops file FIR

One Kuki man has threatened to kill all Meiteis who dare to cross Kuki inhabited villages to attend the upcoming Shirui Lily Festival 2025 at Ukhrul.
Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO), Delhi president Paojakhup Guite made a highly inflammatory and threatening statement in Kuki dialect and its video has gone viral.
English translation of Paojakhup Guite's speech says, "Any Meitei man or woman will not be allowed to cross the buffer zone; we will defend our ancestral land; they are going to hold Shirui Lily Festival to promote Meitei-Tangkhul brotherhood.
"The Meitei will surely try to attend the festival; what our village volunteers must realize is this, it is because of you that our land continues to survive "Therefore any Meitei whether man or woman, who comes to attend the festival by crossing the buffer zone should not be allowed to leave alive.
"I do not care of anyone or anything, if any Meitei comes, blast them away to defend our ancestral land".
Paojakhup Guite made the highly inflammatory speech as a part of his ongoing campaign "People's Movement for Separate Administration" which is reportedly active in Kuki dominated areas since May 15, 2025, sources said.
Reacting to the statement, Indigenous Peoples Forum Manipur president Ashang Kasar said, "During President's rule in Manipur, why such activities allowed? Where is the Governor? Where is the Chief Secretary? Where is the DGP?" .
Taking serious note of the viral video of the highly inflammatory speech which seeks to incite communal hatred and violence, an FIR has been registered at Churachandpur police station against Paojakhup Guite.
In a post on X, Manipur Police said, "As regards to one Paojakhup Guite, Prez KSO Delhi threats to the Meitei, to not allow to cross the buffer zone to attend the upcoming Shirui Festival in Ukhrul, which is circulated in social media since yesterday, Churachandpur police has registered an FIR and all efforts, including raid, are being made in nearby districts for his immediate arrest" .
The police of neighbouring States of Mizoram, Assam, Nagaland and Meghalaya, etc have been requested to arrest him as quickly as possible, the Manipur Police said.
It said all necessary security arrangements would be made to ensure the security of people attending the Shirui Lily Festival.
The violent conflict in Manipur has killed over 250 persons and displaced more than 60,000 persons.
