Kakching, May 29 2025:
A woman from Khangshim village, Machi sub division has lodged complaint to the SP, Kakching, alleging gross medical negligence by staff at Ema Hospital , Kakching, which she claims led to the death of her father, T Khamran.
In the complaint submitted on May 26, the deceased^ daughter, Tontang Teshel-ran, stated that her father was admitted to Ema Hospital around 10:50 pm on May 23 after experiencing chest pain and cold sweating.
Despite informing the attending doctor that her father was a known patient of hypertension and diabetes, and despite a recorded blood pressure of 180/120 mm Hg and blood sugar of 320 mg/dl, the medical officer on duty failed to consult the specialist, she alleged.

The case sheet reportedly mentioned "Acute Ml", indicating suspected heart attack, but no further action was taken during the crucial "golden hour", she stated in her complaint.
According to Teshelran, ECG and Trop I tests were performed only twice, once shortly after admission and again about an hour and a half later, without any subsequent monitoring or repeat testing.
She also alleged that even after five hours of admission, no specialist was called, reflecting what she described as the medical officer's reluctance to disturb the specialist at night.
She further claimed that repeated requests to refer her father to a better facility were ignored until the family demanded discharge, as recorded in the discharge slip.
Her father was admitted to Shija Hospitals the next day where he underwent a stenting procedure but succumbed later that evening.
Calling the treatment a "chain of negligence", Teshelran requested police to formally register a case and investigate the incident thoroughly so that those responsible can be held accountable under relevant legal provisions.
She asserted that the negligence violated her father's fundamental rights and called for justice to prevent similar tragedies.
