Imphal, March 27 2025:
Taking strong exception to the failure of the Government to trace the whereabouts of Luwangthem Mukesh till date, the JAC formed in connection with the disappearance of Mukesh has threatened to intensify their protest.
Members of the JAC, father of the missing youth and leaders of civil society organizations met Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla at the Raj Bhavan today.
Speaking to media persons in front of Raj Bhavan after the meeting, JAC convenor Sukadeva Sharma said that even as they asked the Governor whether he had any information or clue regarding the whereabouts of the missing youth, the Governor only gave one reply that the search is on to find the missing youth.
The Governor told the JAC that he has contacted the DG Assam Rifles for any information about the missing youth.
The DG Assam Rifles replied that search is on in various places including Naga dominated areas but the youth cannot be traced so far.
Indigenous peoples of the State put complete faith in Governor Ajay and that was why village volunteers of the valley had surrendered their arms to the Governor.
But the failure of the Government, which is currently headed by the Governor, to protect innocent people might compel the anguished people to gherao the Raj Bhavan with the slogan "Go back Governor", the JAC convenor said.
Till today, the JAC has been staging democratic protests demanding safe rescue of the missing youth, he said.
As the Government has failed to rescue the youth even after 10 days of missing, the JAC along with different CSOs of the State may launch different modes of intense agitation, he added.
Earlier before their meeting with the Governor, the JAC held a meeting with different CSOs at Keishampat Leimajam Leikai community hall.
