Assam Rifles on Saturday organised a series of civil-military engagement programmes across Bishnupur, Thoubal and Tengnoupal districts to strengthen community confidence, empower youth and promote greater public cooperation.
According to a statement issued by IGAR (South), the initiatives were conducted as part of efforts to support nation-building and grassroots stabilisation by creating platforms for constructive interaction between local communities and security forces.
Altogether, 252 residents, students, youths and teachers participated in the programmes.
In Bishnupur district, an interactive outreach programme was held at Maibam Chingmang village with the participation of 50 residents.
During the interaction, Assam Rifles personnel discussed the prevailing security situation and sought feedback on issues affecting daily life, farming activities and free movement.
Villagers raised concerns over security-related issues and the spread of rumours.
The interaction enabled security personnel to better understand local challenges while encouraging residents to maintain close coordination with the forces and promptly report suspicious activities.
Participants were also informed about ongoing humanitarian initiatives, including area domination patrols, medical assistance and enhanced security deployment.
In Thoubal district, a motivational session was organised at Haoreibi Makha Leikai in Lilong for 50 youths and parents.
A prerecruitment team led by retired Colonel Sahid provided guidance on career opportunities in the Indian Armed Forces, the Agniveer scheme and the Central Armed Police Forces, covering eligibility criteria, physical fitness standards and preparation strategies.
Meanwhile, in Tengnoupal district, Assam Rifles organised "A Day with Company Commander" at New KLP, Moreh, for 145 Class X students and seven teachers from Bethal High School, St George High School, Netaji Memorial High School, Government Higher Secondary School, Dr Kelvin Academy, MT Moreh Public School and Eklavya Residential Model School.
The interaction motivated the students by emphasising the importance of discipline, leadership and selfless service.
Friendly volleyball and tug-of-war competitions were also organised to promote teamwork and sportsmanship, followed by a group photograph with Assam Rifles personnel.
IGAR (South) stated that the programmes helped strengthen mutual trust between the security forces and local communities while encouraging youth development, community participation and long-term socio-economic stability in the region.
