Imphal, February 07 2024:
With an aim to develop government schools, Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF) under its "Eikhoi Lairik Ningthina Tamsi" campaign has identified two government schools for the first phase and held discussion with the teachers concerned to upgrade the schools.
Addressing media persons at its Kwakeithel office, here, on Wednesday, general secretary Sundar Khuman said that MSF has been monitoring schools in different parts of the state under its campaign with the government too undertaking development programmes Under its "School Fagathanshi Mission".
However, many of the government schools are still in a pathetic condition even to this day, he noted, adding that with the ethnic violence continuing to rage in the state, it has become huge problem for parents to send their wards to private schools due to exorbitant admission and tuition fees.
As such, to address problems faced by the parents, it is imperative to develop government schools, the secretary maintained.
Further pointing out that parents will naturally send their children to government schools if they become the best place to pursue education, Sundar Khuman urged the government to accord top priority to developing its own schools.
Informing that MSF will also identify government schools in different districts and help in their development, he stated that for the first phase, MSF has identified Hiyanglam Turen Manbi Primary School in Kakching district and Wangoo Sabal Naodakhong Upper Primary School in Bishnupur district.
Along with discussing with the teachers, SMC and SMDC of the two schools, MSF will ensure that the schools are elevated on par with the people's expectation.
He also said that identification of schools in the remaining districts will be carried out in the second phase and appealed to the locals, meira paibi groups, clubs and public to extend cooperation in its endeavour.
