Panel discussion, health camps mark Doctors' Day

Shija Hospitals & Research Institute marked National Doctors' Day on Tuesday with a formal event at Shija Academy of Health Sciences, Langol, with a panel discussion on the relevance of doctor-patient relationship in the present scenario.
The observance began with Shija's caregivers paying floral tribute to the portrait of Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy to honour his legacy and celebrate the spirit of the day.
Shija Hospitals chairman and managing director Dr Palin Khundongbam recounted the life and contributions of Dr Roy, highlighting his enduring impact on medicine and public service in India.

In a statement, Shija Hospitals informed that the panel discussion themed "Relevance of Doctor - Patient Relationship in the Present Scenario" was moderated by director of medical services Dr Jugindra Sorokhaibam, and featured eight panellists from various medical specialities.
Participants included obstetrics and gynaecology senior consultant Dr Subodha N, consultant physician Dr Chakshu, consultant neurologist Dr Rahul Oinam, consultant in emergency medicine Dr Sweta Khuraijam, consultant paediatrician Dr Kh Sachikumar, consultant neurosurgeon Dr Gautam Ch, consultant general surgeon Dr Sinkhol L, and consultant orthopaedics, spine and joint surgeon Dr Iboyaima Ph.
The discussion centred on the importance of clear communication, mutual respect, and trust in clinical settings.
The panellists shared insights and practical experiences from their respective fields, underlining the need to maintain the human element in healthcare despite increasing systematisation and digitalisation.
The event reaffirmed Shija Hospitals' commitment to providing affordable and high-quality healthcare grounded in ethical practice and professional integrity.
It also highlighted the institution's focus on offering an exceptional patient experience, where empathy, transparency, and doctor-patient trust remain at the core of care delivery, the statement added.
Meanwhile, Assam Rifles organised a medical camp at Sehlon village to commemorate National Doctors' Day, and reaffirm its commitment to the welfare of the local populace in remote border areas.
According to PRO IGAR (S), as part of community outreach efforts, the medical camp catered to 58 villagers including women and children, providing them basic medical check-ups and distributing essential medicines.
The medical staff diligently carried out medical check-up of the people with counselling session on nutrition and disease prevention.
The initiative was a much-needed relief for the residents of Sehlon with limited access to medical infrastructure in the region.
During the awareness lecture, the medical officer emphasised on importance of hygiene, proper diet, regular exercises to maintain a healthy lifestyle and prevention of lifestyle diseases.
The villagers expressed their gratitude to Assam Rifles takes initiatives extending beyond security duties to actively contribute to the health and well-being of communities residing along the Indo-Myanmar border, said the PRO in a release.
On the occasion of National Doctors' Day, Red Shield Division of the Indian Army organised multiple medical outreach initiatives across Manipur, reaffirming its unwavering commitment to social welfare, especially in remote and unrest-affected regions of the state.
Medical camps were conducted at Twisomjang village and St Francis School, Nongdam Tangkhul in Imphal East district; Wangoo Sabal village in Bishnupur district; and at the Sangai University Relief Camp and Laima-nai Kabui village in Churachandpur district.
The health camps included consultation, distribution of essential medicines, awareness sessions on hygiene, nutrition and disease prevention, informative sessions to encourage preventive healthcare practices, address common ailments with special focus on maternal and child healthcare.
Informing that these humanitarian efforts were met with widespread appreciation from villagers, school authorities, and civil administration, a PRO Defence release said "Indian Army's role and dedication is not only for national security but also to peace, development and well-being of the communities in Manipur.
