Assam Rifles fosters cultural synergy at Fire-Walking Festival in Moreh

Reaffirming its commitment to fostering strong ties with local communities, the Assam Rifles extended comprehensive support for the successful conduct of the 59th Fire-Walking Festival in Moreh, Tengnoupal district.
According to a press release issued by IGAR (South), the festival organised by the Tamil Sangam commenced on March 23, 2026, and culminated on April 1, 2026 at the Shree Angala Parmeshwari Shree Muneeshwarar Temple.
Honouring tradition, symbolising faith, courage and resilience, the festival witnessed enthusiastic participation from Tamil, Meetei, Nepali and Bihari communities, as well as devotees from neighbouring Myanmar, transforming the temple into a vibrant hub of cultural and social harmony.

Assam Rifles personnel ensured a safe and peaceful environment through robust security arrangements and essential logistical support for all rituals.
A key highlight of the assistance was the organisation of a langar which served approximately 450 to 500 devotees daily throughout the festival period.
These efforts, complemented by community feasts organised by residents across various localities, reflected a collective resolve to restore peace and preserve regional traditions.
The event was graced by the Deputy Inspector General of Assam Rifles.
