Imphal, May 24 2025:
The Emergency COVID 19 Management Committee of the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, has issued a public advisory in response to the recent rise in COVID-19 cases reported in various parts of the country.
The committee recently convened a meeting to assess local preparedness and outlined precautionary guidelines for hospital visitors to prevent possible transmission.
In a press release issued on Saturday, RIMS observed that although the current infections reported nationally are predominantly mild and do not require hospitalisation, the public is strongly advised to adhere to several preventive measures while visiting the hospital.
The advisory made it mandatory for patients exhibiting flu-like symptoms and their attendants to wear masks.
It further encouraged all other patients and visitors within the hospital premises to wear masks as a preventive measure.
Strict hand hygiene is also advised, and visitors are urged to frequently wash their hands with soap or use alcohol-based sanitisers.
Individuals experiencing Influenza-Like Illness (ILI) symptoms such as cough, cold, fever, sore throat or fatigue have been advised to consult a doctor promptly.
The advisory stated that routine COVID-19 screening will not be conducted.
However, testing will be carried out for patients presenting with Severe Acute Respiratory Infections (SARI) or as deemed necessary by the attending physicians.
RIMS Hospital will continue to adhere to the latest guidelines issued by the state health department.
Reiterating its commitment to health and safety, the statement informed that "the safety of our patients, staff, and the general public remains our top priority" and sought public cooperation in following the advisories in the interest of public health.
