Manipur conflict proxy war instigated by India: PREPAK
Source: Chronicle News Service

Imphal, March 24 2025: The proscribed People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) wil l observe the 45th Red Army Uprising Day of its armed wing Red Army on March 26.Ahead of the observance, PREPAK Interim Council chairman Aheiba Angorn offered revolutionary salute and extended revolutionary greetings to all the people of Kangleipak, in accord with the revolutionary struggle.

He also extended revolutionary message to all the revolutionary organisations operating in Kangleipak and the WeSEA (Western South East Asia) region.

Aheiba Angom also conveyed his goodwill message to the people on the occasion, maintaining that "March 26 is a significant day in the history of Kangleipak's revolutionary struggle and the day is an occasion when the nation conveys some thoughts to its people" .

In his goodwill message, Aheiba Angom said that suppressive policies imposed by India on Kangleipak have become increasingly evident day by day.

India's annexation of Kangleipak (Manipur) was not to elevate this land, integrate it into a united India, contribute to its progress, or allow the people to live freely in a democratic nation as equals.

Instead, India's subjugation of Kangleipak is being recognised not just by the people of Kangleipak but also by the people of the world, he said.

"Today, the reality reflected by this bitter truth has become starkly clear.

The policies, decisions taken by the suppressive Indian government, the perspectives of its authorities, and the actions it has undertaken are now visible in the numerous wounds inflicted over recent years - evident in the aggression by Indian forces, the conditions they have imposed and their efforts to manipulate and control everything here," stated Aheiba Angoam and stressed the need for keen retrospection in this direction.

He continued that since the outbreak of the crisis in Kangleipak (Manipur) on May 3, 2023, it has become widely acknowledged that this is a proxy war instigated by India using its armed forces and creating chaos to advance its agenda.

India has employed these tactics not to uplift the people of this land or resolve the grievances of its communities but to suppress the populace and revolutionary fighters, creating divisions among the people and insurgent groups under the guise of negotiations, only to crush them later.

Even though India loudly proclaims this conflict as simply as a Meetei-Kuki issue, the people have clearly seen through this facade.

Unable to suppress it outright after two years, India has not abandoned this conflict as a lost cause; rather, it has shifted its strategy to prolong this proxy war through deceitful means.

The forces they have unleashed are not retreating-they are intensifying their efforts to divide the youth of this land, arming proxy groups to destabilise Kangleipak (Manipur) further.

This is nothing but a covert strategy to uproot revolutionary organisations' architect for building the unity of Kangleipak (Manipur), from within.

Using the Armed Forces' Special Powers Act (AFSPA) to oppress the people for over 40 years, India has employed state terrorism and military suppression to subdue this revolutionary struggle, he alleged.

"Following this pattern, they have once again unleashed foreign immigrant mercenary forces under the guise of law enforcement, arming them through the Suspension of Operation (SoO) agreement, allowing them to operate unchecked for 15 years and disrupt the lives of the people of Kangleipak (Manipur) that have coexisted harmoniously for millennia," Aheiba Angom noted in his message.

According to the chairman, the people of Kangleipak (Manipur) have been marginalised today and India, under the pretext of some vague policy, has failed to answer who will address this crisis or take responsibility for restoring clarity to the people's minds.

Earlier, home minister Amit Shah stated in the Indian Parliament that this is an illegal immigration issue, claiming that external forces are responsible for the conflict between the Meetei and Kuki communities.

Now, Amit Shah twisted his words claiming the ongoing strife in Kangleipak (Manipur) as a mere conflict between the Meeteis and the Kukis.

While alleging that foreign mercenaries, brought in from outside and settled within Kangleipak under SoO agreement, operate alongside Assam Rifles and other Indian occupational forces, Aheiba Angom said that people who have lost faith in these external forces continue to bear the burden of these proxy groups unleashed by India even today and that this land cannot remain a part of India without consequences.

Throughout history, and even now in the WeSEA region, the people have recognised that this land stands distinct from other colonised nations, bearing its own unique identity.

However, since being forcibly annexed by India in 1949, this once-sovereign land has been reduced to a buffer region under India's control, he observed.

"This is part of India's broader geopolitical strategy, and those who claim that compromising our territory is necessary fail to see the bigger picture.

India collaborates with some Myanmar armed groups as a proxy, allowing Indian forces and the KNA-B to operate together, establishing PDF camps within Kangleipak (Manipur), causing significant harm to the lives of local communities.

They treat this land as an expendable territory in Myanmar's context, claiming Kangleipak (Manipur) as part of their unified nation while disregarding people's wishes".

According to Aheiba Angom, Prime Minister Narendra Modi portrays India as the land of Gautam Buddha and Mahatma Gandhi, a beacon of peace, aiding war-torn nations like Ukraine and advocating for global harmony.

Yet, in the land he claims as his own - Kangleipak (Manipur) - he wages a covert war disguised as ethnic conflict, aiming to suppress its people rather than fostering peace as he does elsewhere.

If Myanmar's conflict spills over, India would not hesitate to abandon Kangleipak (Manipur) as its frontier.

"The greatest goal of those who annexed Kangleipak (Manipur) remains clear: to suppress its identity entirely.

The question arises - did India forcibly open the Eastern Gate guarded by our ancestors to unleash foreign forces? Just as during the 1962 Indo-China War, when the then Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru lamented, 'My heart bleeds for the people of Assam', today, every one of us feels that same pain in our hearts, questioning whether India has once again abandoned this India-Myanmar region to geopolitical games".

He noted that India's various think tanks have expressed in their analyses the view that 'If a new warlike situation arises in the India-Myanmar region, the north-eastern part of India, particularly the Siliguri Corridor, could be severed at any moment, making it impossible to connect Tripura to Bengal through any other route'.

This statement clearly indicates that even Nehru's earlier remarks have been proven true in their essence.

Kangleipak (Manipur) has been under the control of India for 76 years, unable to preserve its own identity or progress independently.

He also noted that Kangleipak (Manipur) has been kept as a buffer region to protect India, a fact that we all increasingly recognise.

This is why today's generation must understand how our ancestors preserved this land, defend it, and unite with other free nations in solidarity - because a land collectively governed by its people under one desire cannot be separated by any other force.

"Even within our communities, rather than relying solely on a regular army, we must have a community militia with greater numbers so that our youth can live with dignity through the strength of an armed force, without needing to compromise again.

When foreign powers arrive, India claims it will protect us, instilling false confidence while simultaneously ensuring that we, ourselves, must safeguard each other," he pointed out.

"Our ancestors did not intend for us to live submissively, yet despite this, Kangleipak (Manipur) has faced numerous challenges and has emerged as a land striving for unity in Western Southeast Asia.

The idea of aligning our land's sovereignty with its historical legacy is a sacred duty our forefathers entrusted to us," he asserted, assuring that this duty is being upheld today by PREPAK and its armed wing, the RED ARMY (RA).

Even though they face countless obstacles and adversities, they advance steadily toward Victory.

The soul may tire, but the land cannot falter; though our physical strength may wane, the resolve forged by our sacrifices will sustain this struggle and lead us to triumph - this is the noble vision that the Red Army has brought to every child of this land, he said.

"This vision ensures that the path of revolutionary struggle remains untainted by cowardice or weakness.

From the Red Army, the young generation learns the history of this land's fight for sovereignty, and thus, the collective history of all its communities'endures.

This ensures that we, the people of Kangleipak (Manipur), do not live submissively now or in the future - a message not just for the Kanglei people but also for the world's sovereign nations and colonial powers alike.

The Red Army's unwavering resolve strengthens the revolutionary path of our future," Aheiba Angom asserted.

He further disclosed that the right of the Kanglei people to reclaim their land's sovereignty is a goal the Red Army (RA) pursued through its actions.

In numerous battles against the Indian Occupational Forces (IOF), they have sacrificed much for this land, enduring losses while remaining united with other revolutionary forces - losses that align with their ultimate aim.

"The Red Army advances with discipline and unity in the revolutionary struggle, ensuring that neither the IOF's might nor foreign interference can halt their progress toward reclaiming our lost sovereignty and achieving revolutionary victory - a goal they steadfastly pursue at every step.

This will once again restore our land's lost dignity," Aheiba Angom added.
