Arms, ammos recovered in joint operations

Imphal, March 23 2025:
In a series of coordinated operations, the Indian Army and Assam Rifles formations under Spear Corps, in collaboration with Manipur Police, CRPF, BSF, and ITBP, carried out intelligence-based operations across various hill and valley districts, including Thoubal, Bishnupur, Imphal West, Churachandpur, Kangpokpi, Tengnoupal, and Jiribam, between March 17 and 21 .
These operations led to the recovery of 28 weapons, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), grenades, ammunition, and other war-like stores.

According to a statement issued by PRO, IGAR (S), on March 17, acting on specific intelligence about the presence of arms and ammunition in Angtha area in Thoubal district, the Indian Army and Manipur Police launched a joint operation.
This operation resulted in the recovery of three weapons, which included two pistols and one single bore barrel rifle.
In Kangpokpi district, operation was conducted at 'Chingmang' near Sagolmang by the Indian Army on March 18, which led to the recovery of one 0.22 rifle.
On the same day, based on inputs regard-ing the presence of an arms cache in T Minou village near the Indo-Myanmar border in Tengnoupal district, Assam Rifles and Manipur Police launched a joint operation resulting in the recovery of one 7.62mm LMG and one AK-56 rifle, along with ammunition and other war-like stores.
Another intelligence-based operation was conducted by the Indian Army the same day at Phubala in Bishnupur district, which led to the recovery of one pistol.
Subsequently, on March 19, a joint operation conducted by Assam Rifles and Manipur Police in the same district resulted in the recovery of one M-20 pistol.
In Churachandpur district, an intelligence-based operation in Thingkangphai village resulted in the recovery of one .303 rifle.
Meanwhile, in Jiribam district, a joint operation in Moulzawl area by Assam Rifles and Manipur Police led to the recovery of five single-barrel rifles, one 12-bore rifle, one locally made pistol, two improvised mortars, ammunition and war-like stores.
On March 21, operations carried out by Assam Rifles in Zero Point-N Boljang village track in Kangpokpi district resulted in the recovery of two 7.62mm SLRs, one .22mm pistol, one improvised mortar, and two rifles, along with ammunition and war-like stores.
In Imphal West district, Assam Rifles and Manipur Police launched joint operations on March 21 and recovered one 5.56mm INSAS rifle, one 9mm pistol, and two air guns, along with ammunition and other war-like stores.
All recovered items have been handed over to Manipur Police for further investigation and necessary action, informed the statement.
