KSO poses 18 questions to UHM, CM

Kangpokpi, June 16 2023: Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO) Sadar Hills has requested SP Kangpok-pi to register an FIR against Pramod Singh, chief of the Meetei Leepun, for latter's alleged hate speech and discriminatory remarks against the Kuki community in his interview with Karan Thapar of The Wire.

The KSO unit also posed 18 questions for the Union home minister Amit Shah and chief minister N Biren Singh.

Though Meetei Leepun claimed to be working to unite the Meetei people settling in different parts of the globe, it is an organisation with a Meetei nationalist agenda to strengthen and safeguard the interest of only the Meetei community at the cost of other communities.

Pramod's organisation has own volunteers and units in all the districts of the hills and valley and conduct meetings at various places.

According to KSO Sadar Hills, Pramod openly declared in the interview with Karan Thapar that if the government either in Delhi or in Manipur does not intervene quickly then 'there will be civil war' and the 'Kukis will not be able to defend themselves' while bluntly stating that the Kukis would be 'wiped out' for 15 km stretch, where the Kukis set up roadblocks.

Pramod also categorically proclaimed in the interview that the Kukis are not 'indigenous to Manipur' while describing the Kukis as 'tenants' in Manipur, the KSO stated.

Deeply concerned with escalation in violence, the KSO sought answers and accountability from the Union home minister and the chief minis -ter of Manipur regarding the deteriorating law and order situation and safety of people.

It then queried Amit Shah and N Biren whether a relative of the CM is a prominent drug lord in Imphal; whether the chief minister is ready to disclose the report made by former additional SP Brinda Thounaojam, who reportedly named politicians and drug lords engaged in drug business in Manipur; demanded explanation for not register ing a single FIR against Aram-bai Tenggol members and its head though more than 3,000 FIRs relating to the ongoing violence had been filed; if 90 percent of those killed in the ongoing violence belong to Kuki-Zomi Hmar community; demanded names of the police stations and camps whose officers-in-charges made no resistance when arms and ammunition were looted and why no action was taken against the officers for not resisting the loot; and if it was true that Art 355 of the Indian Constitution which requires the Central government to take charge of the public order situation in the state, has been declared, and if yes, why did the chief minister ordered Army commanders not to act without his order.

It further asked if it is justified for the chief minister, against whom there are serious allegations as the instigator of the violence, to include himself in the Peace Committee constituted by the Centre.

The KSO unit also demanded to know the numbers of bodies of tribal still lying in the mortuaries and since when.
