Imphal, May 05 2025:
AICC Minority Department national coordinator and Manipur in-charge Rajesh Kumar Sethi has alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is interested more on election than resolving humanitarian crisis.
Addressing media persons at Congress Bhawan on Monday after series of meetings held in different minority inhabited areas of Manipur to strengthen the Congress party base, Rajesh Sethi noted with regret that in-spite of the violence in Manipur completing two years and the people enduring serious hardships, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has neither visited the state even for a day nor making effort to mitigate suffering of the masses.
Instead of resolving the crisis, the state has been placed under President's Rule.
On the contrary, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had visited the strife-torn state numerous times and repeatedly appealed to the people to work for bringing peace and normalcy, he said.
When terrorists launched attack in Pahalgam, PM Modi returned back from Saudi Arabia immediately.
People thought that Modi would visit Pahalgam to share suffering of the victims and give message to public.
However, Modi did not visit Pahalgam and instead addressed an election rally in poll-bound Bihar, thereby ringing out the message that Modi relishes election than bringing relief to the suffering public, Rajesh Sethi maintained, questioning Modi's motive and commitment to wellbeing of the people.
Regarding his visit to the state, Rajesh Sethi confided that the purpose is to strengthen the Congress party from the grassroots level and accordingly held series of meetings with the people in minority inhabited assembly segments.
He also informed about holding meeting with Congress leaders like O Ibobi Singh, Gaikhangam, MLAs and former MLAs and expressed hope that the party would be victorious in the next state assembly election.
The press conference was also attended by MPCC general secretary Amir Hussain and MPCC Minority Department chairman Md Jakir Hussain.
