Water level of Imphal, Iril rivers recede

After surging above flood levels following relentless rain since May 28, the water levels of Imphal and Iril Rivers have significantly receded, now flowing below the warning level and bringing much-needed relief to people, especially those residing near the river embankments.
According to the Water Resources Department's Main Flood Control Room reports, the water levels of Manipur's main rivers showed a gradual decline as recorded at 6 pm.
At 6 pm, the water level of Imphal River, recorded at the Minuthong gauge site, was 784.800m, marginally below the warning level of 785.900m.According to the 6 pm data from the Lilong gauge site, the water level of the Imphal River was recorded at 780.100 meters, marginally lower than the warning level of 780.350 meters.
The Iril River's water level, recorded at the Irilbung Thong gauge site, was 783.675 meters, below the warning level of 786.700 meters, indicating a receding trend.
The Nambul River's water level recorded at 781.325 meters at Humpy Bridge (Thong Nambonbi) at 6 pm, was slightly above the warning level of 781.175 meters.
The Manipur River's water level at the Ithai Barrage gauge site was recorded at 768.030 meters at 6 pm, below the warning threshold of 769.280 meters.
Meanwhile, Kangpokpi received 8 mm of rainfall from 6 am yesterday to 6 am today, and an additional 17 mm from 2 pm to 6 pm today.
Saikul received 3mm of rainfall from 6 am yesterday to 6 am today.
Four gates of the Ithai Barrage remain open, with one gate closed, while a single gate of the Thoubal Barrage is currently open.
