MoS visits state, meets farmers, officials

Thoubal, April 24 2025:
Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Bhagirath Choudhary, who arrived on a daylong state visit Thursday, engaged with representatives from farmer clubs under Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Thoubal, as well as members of CBBOs, FPOs, and officials from various line deparftnents.
The Minister chaired a series of review meetings on key agricultural issues at the Thoubal deputy commissioner's office, followed by visit to KVK, Thoubal, where he inaugurated a Kisan Mela showcasing a variety of agricultural produce and products developed by local farmers affiliated with the KVK.
Later, an interaction programme with the farmers was organised at the conference hall of KVK, Thoubal.
The Union Minister was welcomed with presentation of gifts by CAU, Imphal vice chancellor Dr Anupam Mishra and KVK, Thoubal head Dr Zeshmarani Sarangthem along with CVB-BOs/FPOs/officers of line departments.
During an interaction programme at the KVK conference hall, Union Minister Choudhary lauded the relentless dedication of farmers across the country.
"It is because of the tireless efforts of our farmers that we are able to live.
They truly deserve to be recognised as the top and best in the nation," he remarked.
The minister further stated that, unlike government employees who retire after years of service, farmers continue to work both for themselves and the nation.
Addressing the farmers and stakeholders, the minister encouraged the agricultural community to collaborate with KVKs, adopt scientific methods, and integrate modern technologies into their farming practices to enhance productivity and income.
The MoS also informed that the central government is taking up various welfare programmes for the farmers.
