Imphal, March 23 2026:
"If we fail to inspire the emerging youth to repair our society's current degradation and decline, our community will be impossible to save", warned Huidrom Punsiba, organisation secretary of the All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU).
Punsiba made these remarks during an academic campaign held today at the Regular English High School in Kwakeithel, as part of the 46th Realisation Month organised by AMSU under the theme, "Realise to Save the Indigenous Peoples of Manipur".
He emphasized the significant role of students in working to protect the State from challenges posed by underdevelopment and outsiders.
"Parents and teachers also have a major role in providing inspiration to enhance these efforts", said Punsiba, adding that not only students but also the surrounding community need to be on the same page regarding the idea of saving the land.
He urged everyone to work together to make Manipur, which was once independent but now faces underdevelopment and subjugation, a developed land again by identifying past mistakes.
He further cautioned that if the emerging youth and students believe that studying is their only responsibility and neglect their duty to the land, the community will be destroyed in the future.
Punsiba highlighted that outsiders are entering the land like a flood, and the people are facing a situation where they might have to live under their control, a challenge that is not easy to confront.
The academic campaign is being conducted in various schools to address and collectively raise awareness about such issues.
Students of Regular English High School, the school's headmaster Soibam Phulendro, and many AMSU officials participated in the event.
