Imphal, November 21 2025:
Assam Rifles, under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (South), successfully recovered a civilian vehicle that had been stranded in a remote and conflict-affected area of Chandel District.
According to a release issued by the IGAR (South), the vehicle had been stuck during the ongoing unrest, raising concerns regarding its safety and possible damage.
Demonstrating swift response and professionalism, Assam Rifles deployed a dedicated team to the site despite difficult terrain and prevailing security challenges.
The vehicle was carefully retrieved and moved to a secure location where it underwent a detailed mechanical inspection to confirm its serviceability and operational fitness.
Following this, the force undertook due verification procedures in coordination with local authorities to establish and authenticate the rightful owner.
On November 21, 2025, the vehicle was formally handed over to the rightful owner at Sugnu Police Station in the presence of local police officials - reinforcing Assam Rifles' commitment to protecting civilian assets and upholding public trust.
This initiative is part of Assam Rifles' ongoing efforts to recover, restore and return civilian vehicles displaced during conflict situations.
In April 2025, the force had similarly traced and handed over six such vehicles - including a JCB, trucks and two-wheelers to their legitimate owners in Kakching District.
