Conference of Indian Society of Critical Care Medicine begins

Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal director Prof G Sunil Kumar Sharma, on Sunday inaugurated the first Annual Conference of the Indian Society of Critical Care Medicine (ISCCM), Imphal Branch - CritiCon 2025 - at Jubilee Hall, RIMS.
The two-day conference, organised in collaboration with RIMS Department of Anaesthesiology and Critical Care is being held under the theme "Sharpening Intensive Care Skills, Saving Lives".
The event brings together leading experts, practitioners, and academics to promote knowledge sharing and best practices in critical care medicine.
Besides Prof G Sunil attending the inauguration session as the chief guest, RIMS medical superintendent Prof N Sanjib Singh presided over the function in the presence of Dr Sachin Gupta, general secretary of ISCCM and director of Critical Care at Narayana Superspeciality Hospital, Gurgaon, as the guest of honour.
Other prominent attendees included Prof Gojendra Rajkumar, head of the Department of Anaesthesiology; Dr S Thoibahenba Singh, Professor, Department of Anaesthesiology; Associate Prof L Eshori, joint organising secretary; Prof L Chaoba Singh, organising chairman; and Dr T Kennedy Singh, organising secretary of the inaugural CritiCon Imphal.
In his address, Prof G Sunil extended a warm welcome to all delegates, emphasising the conference theme's relevance: "Sharpening Intensive Care Skills, Saving Lives".
He noted that the COVID-19 pandemic underscored the critical importance of having a well-equipped ICUs and skilled intensivists.
He further remarked that this conference represents a pivotal initiative in advancing intensive care in Manipur and the wider North-Eastern region.
The two-day conference features a nursing workshop cum CME session on "Care of Patients in the ICU", a POCUS workshop, and paper and poster presentations by postgraduate students.
Credit points have been awarded by both the Manipur Medical Council (MMC) and the Manipur Nursing Council (MNC).
Throughout the conference, speakers from various specialties delivered insightful lectures on a broad range of critical care topics.
A notable highlight of the event was the release of the souvenir for the inaugural CritiCon Imphal 2025, celebrating academic and clinical advancements in critical care medicine in the region.
The conference aims to bring together leading intensivists, anaesthesiologists, and healthcare professionals to foster academic exchange, enhance clinical skills, and strengthen the practice of critical care medicine in Northeast India.
