Imphal, June 06 2025:
Flood and land-slide-related disasters continue to impact the state though the situation has improved gradually with rainfall intensity dropping significantly in the past couple of days.
Meanwhile, the official death toll climbed to four, with over 1.65 lakh people affected across the state, according to the latest report from the State Emergency Operations Centre (SEOC).
The daily flood report for June 6, recorded at 5:30 pm, recorded dry to light rainfall in the past 24 hours, offering temporary relief after days of intense downpours.
However, fresh incidents of landslides at nine locations and five new cases of infrastructure damage show that the aftermath of earlier heavy rainfall still looms large.
The SEOC data revealed that a total of 1,65,943 people have been affected across 708 localities.
Three new deaths (apparently referring to drowning of three children in Kakching district) were reported in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of lives lost in the ongoing flood crisis to four.
Authorities have evacuated 4,147 persons so far and opened 78 relief camps across different districts to accommodate the displaced.
Damage to private and public properties remains extensive.
As many as 35,429 houses have been reported damaged by floodwaters, and 169 landslide incidents have been recorded since the beginning of the disaster.
Infrastructure damage has also mounted with 76 sites reported as affected, while 162.65 hectares of crop area have suffered damage.
In addition, 74 animals have been lost.
While no fresh injuries or missing persons were recorded in the last 24 hours, the cumulative impact continues to strain resources.
Rescue and relief efforts by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), state police and fire services are ongoing.
Although the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and armed forces had earlier joined operations, the latest report indicated that no new deployments were made in the past day.
