National Deworming Day held across state

As done across the country, the National De-worming Day was observed in the state by administering deworming tablets to children up to 19 years of age on Tuesday.
The state level observance along with first round administration of deworming tablet was held at Malom Megha High School under the Directorate of Health Services and State Health Society, NHM Manipur.
Addressing the formal launch function, special secretary (health) Hungyo Worshang said that both Social Welfare and Education departments are working with the Health Department to ensure administration of deworming tablets to children in order to keep them healthy.
He also urged Anganwadi workers, ASHA workers and teachers for their full cooperation in making the deworming programme successful.
Expressing concern over the general habit of buying medicine only after getting sick, he emphasised the need for changing such habits and shifting attention towards preventive measures, while reminding the people that administration of deworming tablet is part of the government's plan to prevent worm infection among the children.
He also took the opportunity of talking about the impact of current crisis m the state on the people, especially the children, and urged all concerned mainly the teachers to work towards supporting the crisis affected children.
NHM State Mission director Dr Somorjit Ningombam presided over the function while Education (S) director L Nandakumar, Social Welfare director Ng Uttam and Health Services director Dr O Sanahanbi attended as guests of honour.
Students were administered deworming tablets on the occasion.
District Health Mission Society, Imphal West also organised the first round deworming programme at Praja High Secondary School, Lamsang, Imphal West DC Th Kirankumar, who attended the programme as chief guest, urged parents to ensure that their children get the deworming tablet.
Imphal West CMO Dr L Joykumar presided over the function while ZEO Zone-1 deputy inspector Kennedy Sapam was guest of honour.
