C Doungel, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) candidate for the Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency in the 16th Lok Sabha elections scheduled on April 9 has categorically stated that he is confident of securing the seat as over 2 lakh votes in the hills in addition to the bulk votes from the valley would cast their votes in favour of him.
A flag hoisting ceremony was held at the NCP candidate's residence at Sanjengthong here to kick- start his poll campaign.
Leaders of Left and Secular Alliance (LSA) that has been dwindled to only seven parties following the internal strife were also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Manipur Pradesh NCP president and MLA of Keishamthong Assembly Constituency Laishom Ibomcha said that all the political parties are not bad, but unscrupulous politicians have made them appear so.
Ibomcha said that Doungel, former minister, is one of the honest candidates in the fray, who will claim the seat because this time money has no place in the polls.
Doungel also said he is confident of winning the Outer Parliamentary seat as he would get more than 2 lakh votes in the hill besides a sizeable vote from the valley.
Doungel sought the support and blessings from the people of the constituency in his electoral fight.
