The proscribed PREPAK has stated that it would start observing March 26 as the Red Army Uprising Day from this year in commemoration of the three outstanding attacks carried out by the Red Army at different places.
A statement issued by the outfit's Assistant Secretary, Publicity and Propaganda LeibakNgakpa Luwang reminded that a team of seven Red Army cadres led by the outfit's leader Tulachandra attacked Moirang police station on September 22, 1979 and killed one SI and two Constables.
They also confiscated seventeen .303 rifles and a large number of ammunition.
On February 27, 1980, Red Army cadres overpowered a VVF (Village Volunteers Force) camp at Lamlai Khunou and confiscated seventeen 303 rifles along with 600 live rounds.
Again on March 26, 1980, Red Army cadres attacked an escort party of CRPF Commandant Mishra at the gate of the then Women Hospital/District Hospital of Khwairamband Keithel.
One CRPF Havildar was killed in the attack apart from inflicting injuries on two Constables.
The cadres also snatched one stengun and one 303 rifle.
The outfit is observing Red Army Uprising Day on March 26 taking these three particular successful strikes together.
The March 26 Red Army Uprising Day may serve as an inspiration and a guiding for thousands of future Red Army in their struggle for sovereignty of Kangleipak.
It also reminded that PREPAK and its Red Army were set up on a sacred site atop Koubru hills on October 9, 1977.Since then the Red Army has been fighting for sovereignty of Kangleipak with a lofty ideal of self-sacrifice.
The UN 'Declaration on the Granting of Independence to Colonial Countries and Peoples' adopted on December 14, 1960 supported and endorsed the right to self determination of every colonised people, mentioned the outfit's statement.
