Kabui folk song & dance competition

Imphal, September 29 2013: The prizes of the Kabui folk song and dance competition organised by Tingkao Ragwang Chap-Riak Chabon Phom (Assam Manipur and Nagaland) on September 22 under the theme "Promoting culture; strengthening roots"were distributed during a function at Namthanlong Community Hall here today.

In the category of traditional song, Ramlon Luh Kamei Makuganglu of Chaopok Village was conferred the first prize, Longmei Againa of Duegaipangjang Village won the second while Abumei Kamei of Chalungkhou received the third prize.

In the category of harvesting song (Mazah Luh), Joyry Daimei of Chingmeirong won the first prize; Lankhamliu Gangmei of Chingmeirong won the second prize while the third prize was bagged by Pounemgai Palmei of Chigkham Village.

In the category of traditional dance (Laam Lua), Joyry Daimei Group of Chingmeirong, P.Gaithanliu Group of Pongringlong Village and Duigaipang Jang Luchu respectively won the top three prizes.

In the category of traditional drum (Khong Luan, beating of tuna ginchong), Dangmei Lan Dangmei of Keisamthong was given the first prize while the second and the third prize went to Khanmsin Maringmei of Chinikon and Karnglung Kamei of Ragailong respectively.

The prize distribution ceremony was attended by Khumukcham Joykishan, MLA of Thangmeiband Assembly Constitution as chief guest, R.Makulim, President of the organising committee as Functional President and L.Poushonglung, chief of Namthanlong as guest of honour.
