Joining the rest of the world, Patent Information Centre, Manipur Science and Technology Council (MASTEC) and Indian Medical Association jointly observed World Intellectual Property Day at IMA House today.
MASTEC Executive Director Th Surendranath Singh, who was the chief guest of the function, released a health bulletin during the observance.
Giving an in-depth speech on Intellectual Property, Department of Chemistry, Manipur University Professor N Rajmuhon informed the gathering that patents are granted for even small but novel inventions.
He added that for acquiring patent rights in different countries, one has to submit separate patent applications in all the countries of interest.
If the country of interest is a member country of the Patent Corporation Treaty (PCT), one can file application through PCT by mentioning the names of countries of interest, he added.
