Imphal, June 15 2025:
Kangleipak Minority Welfare Organisation (KMWO) president Md Nasir Khan has called upon all communities in the state to stand united to protect the integrity and identity of Manipur.
He said those attempting to disintegrate Manipur should retract their steps, warning that such efforts would never succeed.
He was speaking at the 10th Foundation Day celebration of KMWO and the 3rd Linthoinganbi Kanglei Chanura Awards ceremony held on Sunday at the Loktak Hall of Manipur Press Club.
The event was organised under the theme, "Manipur's integrity is unbreakable; Kanglei women must lead the way to a better future".
Md Nasir Khan said that KMWO has been working on various issues concerning the state and has consistently opposed all forces trying to destroy the fabric of Manipur since its inception.
He stressed that the ongoing conflict in the state, which began on May 3, 2023, has affected people across communities, and urged the Centre to restore peace and install a popular government at the earliest.
He further demanded that uniform laws be applied equally to the hills and the valley, stating that equal treatment is essential for peace and unity.
It is unfortunate that some sections of people living in the state are nurturing the idea of Manipur's disintegration, and reiterated that such ideas must be firmly rejected.
He also announced that from now on, Manipur Meitei Pangal Devel opment Union (MMPDU), Muslim Students' Union (MSU), and KMWO will work collectively under a single platform.
He said these organisations will no longer use separate letterheads and will jointly strive to build a better Manipur.
KMWO advisor Th Manihar said that the organisation was founded with the goal of defending the integrity and identity of Manipur, and that it is guided by the belief that all indigenous communities of the state share a common bond of brotherhood.
He further alleged that the Government of India is attempting to suppress the people of the state, and called on all communities to recognise this agenda and unite in resistance.
The indigenous communities are facing an existential threat today, and building unity among them is the only way to preserve the future of Manipur, he said.
As part of the foundation day celebration, the Linthoinganbi Kanglei Chanura Award, which had been on hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the current crisis, was presented to six women in recognition of their excellence in various fields, covering two years.
The event was also attended by AMMOCOC president SM Jalal, founder and principal of Paradise English School, Thoubal, N Ranjit, and HERI-COUN general secretary Aheibam Anand as presidium members.
