Imphal, December 01 2010:
As part of the Golden Jubilee year-long series of activities, the Maram Students' Union (MSU) in a press release signed by MSU, president Pundi P Celestine has stated that it has carried out the 6th edition by organizing a "Social Work cum Cleanliness Drive" campaign on NH-39 between Maram Centre and Maram Bazar which is a stretch of 2 km.
In social works associated with the launch of the Jubilee celebrations stickers pin pointed potholes and leveled certain portions of the highway which was destroyed by last October's incessant rainfall which also caused landslides in the area.
The endeavour was aimed to generate awareness that the concern of services and contribution towards public property does not end with only the concerned Deptt.
It aimed to stress on the importance of participation at every level, all individuals and the community
at large.
Social work on the highways is also focused to inculcate and instill in the young minds to be partners for a collective effort to ensure a sustainable future.
MKS extends its gratitude to Col Polash Chaudary CO 5AR and Don Bosco College, Maram for the success of the campaign.
Meanwhile, the students body congratulated Dr Joseph Kuba on his being given the charge of Regional Director, IGNOU, Imphal and wishes him good luck.
