Healing hands, united hearts: Assam Rifles brings healthcare to remote villages

In a heartfelt initiative that blended compassion with commitment, Somsai Battalion of Assam Rifles conducted a free medical camp for the residents of New Wahong and Old Wahong villages, reaffirming its enduring dedication to community welfare and outreach.
According to a release issued by the IGAR (South), the medical camp held today was staffed by a team of medical personnel from the Assam Rifles Unit Hospital, who provided a wide spectrum of healthcare services to the villagers.
From general health check-ups and distribution of essential medicines to preventive consultations and awareness sessions, the camp was designed to meet both immediate and long-term health needs of the local populace.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from the community, with 60 individuals - including 10 infants and 21 women - benefitting from the services.
The presence of the medical team brought not only relief but also reassurance to families living in these remote areas, where access to quality healthcare remains a challenge.
The villagers expressed deep gratitude for the initiative, praising the Assam Rifles for its unwavering support and timely intervention.
This outreach effort is yet another reflection of the Assam Rifles' ethos as "Friends of the North East, Sentinels of the North East" .
