Covid claims two more lives, infects 270

Imphal, September 01 2021: Daily positivity rate dropped further on Wednesday with government bulletins reporting only two death cases and 270 new positive cases out of 3276 samples tested, thus registering a positivity rate of 8.24 per cent against Tuesday's 8.76 per cent.

It is the lowest daily positivity rate since April 30, whichrecorded 7.98 per cent.

The rate picked up from May 1 onwards by registering 14.36 per cent.

The state is also witnessing gradual dip in the Covid trend after four months.

However, five districts are registering positivity rate higher than the state's average.

Chandel tops the chart with 19.7 per cent followed by Tamenglong at 18.7 per cent.

Imphal West is in the third place with 10 per cent while Imphal East and Bishnupur districts are in the fourth and fifth place at 9.4 and 9.1 per cent respectively.

The active caseload reduced to 3388 out of which 1128 (33.29 per cent) are in home isolation, 991 (29.25 per cent) in CHICs, 702 (20.72 per cent) in CCCs and 567 (16.74 per cent) in hospitals.

Among the hospitalised patients, 120 are in ICU/HDU wards, 195 on oxygen support and 49 on ventilator support.

However, there is no report on the number of patients on oxygen and ventilator support from JNIMS, Hand Hospital and LFS Covid Treatment Centre even though these facilities have 179, 28 and 15 patients respectively.

At the same time, 17 patients are also on oxygen support in different CCCs.

As of Wednesday evening, 466 beds including 85 ICU/HDU beds are available in different hospitals.

There is no updated information on bed vacancy in other facilities but as of Tuesday evening 2847 beds were available in different CCCs, and 352 beds (18 ICU/HDU) in district hospitals and CHCs.

So far, the state has recorded 84,803 positive cases and 1410 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic, out of which 2228 new cases and 21 fatalities were added in the last seven days alone.

According to official reports, the 270 new positive cases included 266 civilians (124 male & 142 female) and 4 personnel of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF).

Their samples were tested at RIMS (5), JNIMS (44) and other testing centres (22l) .

The positive cases from among the civilian population are from Imphal East (33), Imphal West (109), Thoubal (5), Bishnupur (15), Kakching (7), Ukhrul (24), Churachandpur (20), Chandel (12), Senapati (8), Tamenglong (25), Tengnoupal (2), Jiribam (1), Noney (1) and Kangpokpi (4) .

All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.

The State Level Covid-19 Deaths Audit Committee reported two Covid-19 deaths in the last 24 hours but no age and gender information have been provided.

Both were from Imphal West district and none of them had received Covid-19 vaccine.

The cumulative number of deaths in the state has now reached 1784.In the last 24 hours, 277 patients were discharged from home isolation (105), RIMS (11), JNIMS (11), CCCs (97) and CHICs (53).The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,14,203 (general population - 1,10,082 and CAPF personnel - 4,121) .

Number of recovered cases is 1,09,031 (general population - 104,939 and CAPF personnel - 4,092) and number of active cases is 3,388 (general population - 3,364 and CAPF personnel - 24) .

The recovery rate is 95.47 per cent.

In the last 24 hours, 1366 D-type and 344 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities.

Only 7320 vaccine doses were administered on Tuesday and the cumulative number of vaccinated individuals has reached 11,88,281.Out of this, 3,43,447 have received both doses of Covid vaccine though 4,23,072 individuals are eligible to get the second shot.

In Kakching district, five positive cases were detected out of 69 samples tested on Wednesday.

One case was detected at Jivan Hospital, two at Ema Hospital and two at government RAT site.

Two are from Tengnoupal district and the remaining are residents of Kakching district, according to DSO Kakching Dr Kesho.

As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on 1DSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (38,676), Imphal East (25,381), Thoubal (9139), Churachandpur (9627), Kangpokpi (2635), Tamenglong (3147), Bishnupur (8721), Senapati (2074), Ukhrul (2290), Kakching (6207), Chandel (2163), Noney (998), Tengnoupal (1013), Jiribam (1007), Kamjong (711) and Pherzawl (414).Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (594), Imphal East (417), Thoubal (163), Churachandpur (153), Kangpokpi (56), Tamenglong (13), Bishnupur (183), Senapati (7), Ukhrul (27), Kakching (110), Chandel (33), Noney (4), Tengnoupal (13), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (4) and Pherzawl (0) .

Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 36,804 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 23,536 CPM.

Test rate has improved to 3,91,474 tests per million population against the national average of 3,74,830 TPM.

Case fatality rate stands at 1.56 per cent.

In the past 24 hours, only 3276 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 8.24 per cent per cent while the cumulative positivity stands at 9.40 per cent.
