Govt mulls ₹1 lakh relief for lost home

Imphal, December 26 2023: Chief minister N Biren said that the government is considering a relief package of Rs 1 lakh each for families, who have lost their houses during the crisis, as New Year's gift.

The CM made the announcement during the Good Governance Day function marking the 99th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee held at Gty Convention Centre, Imphal on Monday.

Speaking as chief guest of the function, Biren informed that the government is working towards providing assistance to the displaced people and to facilitate their resettlement in their native villages.

With the advent of a new year, the government is considering a relief package of Rs 1 lakh each to the families, who have lost their houses in the crisis, in order to help them acquire basic necessities of a family.

At the same time, the government is putting all efforts to bring a solution to the crisis through political and constitutional means.

However, it needs a collective effort from all, he said while urging the public to refrain from circulating false rumours in social media, which could impede the peace restoration process.

Biren also spoke on the dreams and ideals of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who advocated good governance and said that PM Modi is following the path laid by the late leader.

Various welfare schemes and policies implemented by the government are part of the government's effort to bring good governance and they need public support to realise the intended goal.

Manipur is a powerhouse of sports and in order to further promote sports, the government is planning to implement a new policy called "One Village, One Playground", as well as a guarantee scheme for players in the age group of 18 to 40 years.

Infrastructure development works will be taken up in 120 schools under School Fagathansi Mission to improve the education sector, for which the Centre has already sanctioned funds, the CM added.
