Imphal, June 24 2013:
Contending that the ongoing process of issuing counseling forms to students for admission in medical courses on the basis of NEET scores after cancelling the medical entrance test of the State is against the order of the Supreme Court, Manipur MBBS/BDS 2013 Entrance Examination Parents/Guardians' Association has observed that the Government of Manipur is liable to be penalized for dishonouring the apex court's order.
After the Manipur MBBS/BDS Entrance Examination, 2003 has been cancelled erroneously following a decision of the State Cabinet; the Medical Directorate has started issuing NEET counseling forms.
This is in complete disregard of the 13th May, 2013 interim order issued by the Supreme Court of India, Secretary of the Association K Arun Meitei said in a statement.
Arun reiterated that the interim order of the Supreme Court was related to barring announcement of the results of medical entrance tests and nowhere had it mentioned about starting admission process.
This has been clearly interpreted by a Vacation Bench comprising Justice Gyan Sudha Misra and Madan B Lokur which ruled that all the admission process have to be subjected to the final outcome of the judgment to be passed by the apex court.
So, starting the process of admitting NEET passed candidates by issuing counseling form is against the order of the apex court and liable to be punished.
The Association has also warned of approaching the Supreme Court if the State Government failed to save the lives of the students by revoking the State Cabinet decision of cancelling Manipur MBBS/BDS Entrance Examination-2013 .
