JAC submits memorandum to Bishnupur DC, sit-in staged

The Joint Action Committee, formed in connection with the death of Kh Priyaluxmi has submitted a memorandum to the Home Commissioner of India through the Deputy Commissioner of Bishnupur to uncover the truth behind the suspicious death of Priyaluxmi and to punish those responsible for her death.
The JAC was accompanied by family members of Priyaluxmi along with the people of her localities.
After submitting the memorandum to the DC Bishnupur, JAC convenor, N Bishrup stated that due to the suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of Priyaluxmi, the case must be investigated thoroughly to unearth the truth behind her suspicious death.
Such crime against women, particularly from the North East has raised serious concerns regarding the safety of women from the North East in mainland India, said Bishrup.
"Blaming the victim after the death is totally unacceptable" and such an incident could even happen again in the future, said Bishrup.
The Government of India, the Delhi Government and Manipur Government must immediately intervene for swift investigation to unearth the mysterious death of Priyaluxmi, and those involved in her suspicious killing must be punished severely, said Bishrup.
Meanwhile, members of Manipur Chanura Lamjing (MACHALL) staged a sit-in protest today at Ngaikhong Siphai, Bishnupur against the mysterious death of Kh Priyaluxmi in Delhi's Sunlight Colony.
During the protest, the protesters demanded justice for the victim and stringent punishment for the culprits involved.
The protesters also raised slogans like "We condemn the mysterious death of Priyalaxmi", "Find those involved in her suspicious death", "Justice must be brought", "Give capital punishment to those involved in her killing" etc during the protest.
