Imphal, June 19 2025:
Indigenous Tribal Leaders' Forum (ITLF) has declared an indefinite shutdown as a mark of mourning and protest against the brutal killing of Hoikholhing, the chief of Langching Manbi village on Thursday afternoon In a press release issued by its Department of Information and Publicity, ITLF demanded immediate action against those responsible for this atrocity, concrete steps from the central government to ensure the protection of tribal lives and territory, and an independent investigation into the repeated buffer zone violations.
It continued that this was not an isolated incident but yet another target assault in what has now become a systematic campaign of state-sponsored ethnic cleansing against the Kuki- Zo minority.
ITLF said that the state government is directly responsible for allowing such atrocities to unfold under its watch, while adding that it would not tolerate the continuous slaughter of innocent Kuki-Zo lives.
"The silence and inaction of the authorities, despite repeated warnings, have enabled this culture of impunity to flourish.
The security forces, well aware of the volatile situation due to repeated and provocative breaches of the buffer zone by Meitei aggressors, have failed in their constitutional duty to protect the vulnerable.
This inaction has now cost yet another life," it stated.
