Imphal, January 08 2026:
The LMS Law College Alumni Association has appealed to the Chief Engineer, Public Works Department, Government of Manipur and relevant authorities to make immediate arrangement for shifting of the unauthorised sand/stone business operating in the eastern stretch of the Dhanamanjuri University boundary wall in National Highway-02 and the unauthorized parking arrangement of "Di transport vehicles" and others in front of the LMS Law College.
In a letter written to the Chief Engineer, the LMS Law College Alumni Association stressed the role and contribution of erstwhile Dhanamanjuri College which was upgraded and now known as Dhanamanjuri University for many years as one of the most reputed and prestigious academic institutions in the State.
The Association stated that the service provided for quality and higher education by the DM University for a wide range of students is unparalleled to any other educational institution in the State.
The Association pointed out that as part of the policy for the overall development, the main gate in the eastern side of the DM University which was kept closed for decades has been open for convenience of students, teachers and staff under the visionary leadership of the present Vice-Chancellor.
"But the unauthorized sand/stone business carried out by unknown persons for years in the eastern stretch of the DM University wall by blocking the right of way of the pedestrians and also the unauthorized parking arrangement in both sides of LMS Law College main gate have caused great inconvenience especially to the students community", it added.
The Association mentioned that these unauthorized activities have not only obstructed free movement of the students but also distorted the sanctity and academic atmosphere of the university and greatly affected road safety measures in the area.
Furthermore, on behalf of the students fraternity and the university, the association appealed to the Chief Engineer and relevant authorities to look into the matter and take immediate steps to address the issue in the interest of the university.
