Chandel, January 05 2026:
In a dedicated effort to bolster basic infrastructure and improve the quality of life in remote border regions, Assam Rifles installed eight solar lights in the public areas of Molcham village, Chandel District, on Monday.
According to a press note issued by the IGAR (South), the initiative executed under the Assam Rifles Civic Action Programme (ARCAP), addresses a long-standing lack of reliable illumination in this sensitive locality near the IndoMyanmar Border.
The project was necessitated by the village's remote location, where inadequate lighting had historically hindered daily activities and compromised the safety of the residents.
By providing dependable, eco-friendly energy, the installation significantly enhances village security and strengthens developmental infrastructure.
These lights are expected to facilitate socio-economic activities after dusk, allowing children to pursue evening studies and enabling women to manage household and community responsibilities with greater ease and safety.
Around 25 officials and troops participated in the event, engaging with the local community to ensure the successful implementation of the project.
Beyond physical infrastructure, such peoplecentric initiatives are vital for fostering trust and cooperation between the security forces and the local population.
